It’s almost Christmas and do you know what that means? Endless days of football matches! Liverpool look set to top the table this Christmas with a tasty points difference between them and anyone else. Pep’s Manchester City failed to win a game in November, so it’s safe to say they’ll be asking for a replacement for Rodri from Santa this year!
At the other end of the table, Wolves and Crystal Palace look to have finally found some form having been unbeaten in four and three league games respectfully. And with Manchester United under new manager Amorim, could they experience a change in fortune?
What is going to be most challenging for any fantasy football manager is predicting the inevitable squad changes taking place this December. With teams playing 6-7 times in 31 days (that’s a game less than every 5 days), it’s going to be challenging to predict when players will be given a rest.
Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh
Mo Salah is way above any nearby player with an astounding 120 points. To put that into context Cole Palmer is in second place with 86 points. If you haven’t got the Egyptian King on your team already, then put him in now!
Marcus Maddison and Mattheus Cunha are enjoying fruitful spells having both picked up 16 points in their last games. Joao Pedro has returned to Brighton’s matchday spells in good form whilst Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes looked happy and confident when turning out for Amorim’s first game for United.
Stocking Fillers
If you’ve packed your squad full of big-money players and you’re scrapping to fill in your squad with little cash, take a look at some of these options!
Ipswich Town have potentially a decent run-in this festive calendar – besides their the 27th and 30th when they play Arsenal and Chelsea. Before that though, they face Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle. We’ve already seen how strong they perform at home, and they haven’t looked too shabby on their travels either. Liam Delap and Sammie Szmodics are solid options to add depth to your team, with both having an eye for goal.
Elsewhere, Danny Welbeck is still going strong with 66 points and only costs £6m whilst Everton midfielder Dwight McNeil isn’t shy of a goal either.
Pick your team wisely and hopefully you’ll experience a gift under your tree, setting you up nicely for 2025!
